Useful Information for travelers to Syria:

Documents:

It's obligatory to have a valid passport for at least 6 months; to enter Syria it's forbidden to have any seal or visa from Israel.

Vacations:

There is no obligation for any type of vacations, while concerning the food & drinks, we advise you to  always drink mineral water & to avoid eating sweets with "cream"  also, to pay attention to  unwashed vegetables or fruits. Appetizers are normally prepared from cooked vegetables with hot sauce, therefore they may cause stomach problems. Breakfast & dinner are usually prepared on  a  self-service system using the international kitchen. Lunches are served during the tour in first-rate restaurants.

Climate:

The best period to visit Syria is spring time (March, April, May & June) it's also advisable to visit Syria in Autumn (September October, November). (July, August) are considered the hot months of Syria.

Appropriate Attire:

Comfortable shoes, hats and sunglasses are advisable during  archeological site visits. Concerning mosque visits, women are kindly asked to cover their hair & put on a mantel which covers the entire body. It's obligatory to discard your shoes upon entering the prayer area.

Photos & Video Cameras:

Taking photos of airports/military areas is strictly forbidden, while taking photos of people are usually fine, but it's always advisable to seek prior permission as some people charge you for the privilege of taking photos of them. Taking photos in mosques are usually allowed.

Timing :

Syria is 2 hours ahead of GMT.

Language:

Arabic is the official language of the country, but in hotels/restaurants/airports/shops, people speak European languages.

Currency:

One used is equal to 50 Syrian pounds (Lira), hotels & shops usually accept credit cards and all types of foreign currency.
